Ella Workshop Bags Represent Tanzania in Japan
Last week, bags made by Deaf artisans at the Ella workshop travelled to Japan as official gifts of the United Republic of Tanzania.
The Minister of State, President's Office, Planning and Investment, Hon. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, carried them on his investment mission to Japan and presented them to his hosts as he made the case for investing in Tanzania.
From Dar es Salaam to the World Stage
This is the fruit of our partnership with the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), under which gift bags from our workshop are now presented to investors coming into Tanzania. Every bag is stitched in Dar es Salaam by Deaf women and men who were once told there was no place for them in the economy.
Today their work is representing the country abroad.
For us, this is not just an order fulfilled. It is proof that inclusion and quality go hand in hand, and that products made by persons with disabilities can stand on any stage in the world.
Thank you to TISEZA for believing in our workshop, and to Hon. Prof. Mkumbo for choosing our work to represent Tanzania.
Ella workshop to the world. They can, Deaf can too!
